Michael specializes in North American, Eastern European, Israeli, and Holocaust research. He is a past-president of the IAJGS and of the Israel Genealogical Society. Michael chaired the 2015 IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy held in Jerusalem. He has made presentations at numerous JGS societies and IAJGS Conferences.
